A big shout-out goes to all the US service personnel who have become “wounded warriors,” especially those with brain damage from direct injury or suffering from the intense stress of the hostile war environment.
Since my brain hemorrhage and subsequent brain surgery, I have gained a new respect and empathy for brain damaged folks. I don’t have the stamina, “guts”, or nerves to return to a hostile public school classroom, much less to a war zone. Our troops face bullets and bombs with their names on them all the time—for us.
Since moving near Ft. Bragg in North Carolina, I have adopted the mindset often articulated here, “We can’t do too much for our troops.” I like to support the local thrift store that donates to the Wounded Warrior organization.
And, if you are a veteran “prayer warrior” who feels a little “beat up” from life’s battles, the song below on YouTube is for you. To all the wounded, I say, “Hang on. The Great Physician has room for you in His caseload.”
