Before 2020 draws to an end, here are some facts I have discovered about Charisma magazine that I would like to pass along. They came directly from the founding editor himself, Stephen Strang. (p. 58)
Strang says that the magazine has moved to online and that Charisma Digital is now on their website, www.charismamag.com. There, readers “can read 100% of the articles and flip the pages just like print.” The magazine’s stats are pretty impressive. About “7 million people come to the website monthly—many more than read the print magazine.” Their “Charisma Podcast Network had 25 million downloads in 2020.”
Strang explains that his business does not make a profit from paper sales of the magazine with current print, postage, and subscription, and author rates. Charisma continues to be published for subscribers who prefer a paper version. The editor laments that scammers are somehow stealing subscription money. The magazine’s correct address is 600 Rinehart Road, Lake Mary, Florida 32746.
ARTICLES IN THE DECEMBER ISSUE:
- “The Last Christmas” by Gary Curtis – What if 2020 was the last Christmas of all? The article is filled with thoughts of the Second Coming of Christ Jesus.
- “The End of 2020: The Year of Shaking” by Jonathan Cahn. He wrote the article a good while before the year ended. He felt that he had to accomplish two things in 2020: (1) write The Harbinger II and (2) help host the Washington, DC, event “The Return.” In DC, tens of thousands of believers came to pray, although travel and lodging were doubtful with the virus raging. It was held on September 26. (See Jonathan Cahn YouTube.)
Cahn remembers a similar prayer gathering at the National Mall in Washington, DC, in 1979. (28) He was there. Believers asked for the release of American hostages in Iran and for godly leaders. Results: Iran released the hostages, and Reagan took the presidency.
Cahn describes the results like this: “There would be a resurgence of the American economy, the American military, and America’s image, and . . . ultimately lead to the fall of the Soviet Union and the liberation of millions in Eastern Europe.”
Then, a chilling warning is offered to a country that refuses to repent today:
Was The Return the catalytic event to usher in revival? Or was it a last call, a final warning, to a nation before the coming of judgment? Or could it be both?... I have always been led to answer that it could be both—that through shaking can come salvation, through judgments can come revival.
The recent surge in the Corona virus and its new, more deadly strain, make us think that judgment has indeed come to America. The recent election results show no remorse in America for our blood-guiltiness through abortion, or they could perhaps be a reaction to our President’s personality. Reagan had a winsome personality. There have also been thrilling reports of revival world-wide.
- The next article is by Dr. Mark Rutland, former president of Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, as well as Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is “the Church in an Angry World.”
- Then, “The Global Church” by Christine Johnson encourages us through reports of God’s work world-wide. Online, this article is highlighted under “The Global Church” under download at CPNSHOWS.COM. There are reports from Colombia, Iceland, Russia, Singapore, and Uganda.
There are some other minor articles as well. These above are offered as a sampling. While I have never supported every single word in Charisma, I do appreciate their reporting over the years.
