Anyone can Google “One Solitary Life” and find the amazing essay on the life of Jesus. He never wrote a book, led an army, or traveled more than 200 miles from home but had tremendous influence. We divide all history by His life, and He has affected millions and millions of lives. How did that happen?
Jesus simply relied on the infinite, indescribable wisdom of God to direct His days, one day at a time. We can do the same thing. His early followers and modern devoted children did/do likewise.
Jesus let God lead Him to a Samaritan village; He talked to one woman. The conversation resulted in a whole town believing on Him (John 4). John on Patmos Island was peacefully “in the Spirit” on the Lord’s day, enjoying his Sunday. That day he saw his Revelation that has spoken to countless people since. (Revelation 1) Paul was stuck in prison and let God lead him each day as to how to spend that day. He wrote three prison epistles. He also wrote the famous book of Romans (that helped to start the Reformation in the 1500s and was a factor in the conversion of John Wesley). Paul had to let God arrange details to get the book of Romans written. Since Paul lived before the days of bifocals, he had to write on the day that his amanuensis (scribe) could come by where Paul was. It was Tertius. (Romans 16:22) Paul had to depend on others to bring him ink and parchments.
What about us? Each day we can ask God to lead us for THAT day. If all we are to get done is write someone a letter, wash our hair, take a nap, or do a blog, then that is what we need to get done. Sarah Young, author of the blockbuster devotional, Jesus Calling, has terrible health issues and cannot market her book herself. It seems the Holy Spirit has taken over promoting her books.
It is for sure that God’s wisdom far surpasses ours!! Surely, He can make something beautiful of the little lives we offer to Him, one day at a time.
