In our case, we have a part in determining which we will be—-fine china or an everyday dish.
Notice II Timothy 2:20-21 - "In a large house there are dishes and bowls of all kinds: some are made of silver and gold, others of wood and clay; some are for special occasions, others for ordinary use. If anyone makes himself clean from all those evil things, he will be used for special purposes, because he is dedicated and useful to his Master, ready to be used for every good deed."
Some of God's children (who have weathered many a trial and thought they would simply coast on into heaven) have found themselves undergoing some "finishing touches" by the Master Potter. Some have seen severe health or family crises, but they are coming forth as gold from the furnace. Only in eternity will we all get to see the finished products. But we can expect to see them used in the Master's hands and plans. For now, we all just keep on trusting our souls into the hands of a faithful Creator. Those hands are changing us from earthenware to fine China, for His special purposes and special occasions.
