Wait! Before you store away the last Christmas ornament…
Why not decorate your soul with one more Christmas sermon? Try this one. It is truly one of the all-time best that I have ever heard!
It is Rick Warren speaking at Saddleback Church the Sunday before Christmas 2019 (seen online at link at bottom). He contrasts the difference between the first appearance of Jesus at Christmas with the second appearance of Jesus which will happen in the future at some unknown date, unknown even to Jesus Himself.
For example, the first appearance was quiet (as in “Silent Night”), but the second appearance with be noisy with a trumpet blast and a shout by Jesus and angels.
The first appearance was dark at night; the sky of the second appearance with be VERY lit up like lightning brightness.
At the first appearance, only a few shepherds and the parents got to see Him; then, every eye will behold him.
On and on the list goes with wonderful supporting scriptures to back up the comparisons or contrasts. In addition, Warren does a masterful job of weaving the salvation message into his illustrations. At one point, he mentions that if the second coming had happened 100 years ago, we would not even be born yet, and God wants us included in His family. So, His waiting is for our sakes, but we have to decide to say “yes” to Him.
If you can get an unbeliever to watch this video with you, it will do the witnessing for you. It is that thorough. And it is a Christmas sermon.
